West Pierce Passes Fire Benefit Charge

On November 5th, voters in West Pierce made the decision to move to a new methodology for funding the fire department. In 2025, West Pierce Fire & Rescue (WPFR) will begin utilizing a Fire Benefit Charge (FBC). With a move to a FBC, the District will be eliminating the current Maintenance & Operations levy and reducing the statutory rate of the Regular Fire levy by 33%.

WPFR is already hard at work making all of the necessary changes. The Board of Fire Commissioners will have a special meeting on November 12th for the purpose of holding a public hearing to establish the FBC amount for 2025.
